Your Girl Friday – A Year of Business
This month, Emma & Alice celebrate a year of trading under Your Girl Friday!
Starting a business in a pandemic is no mean feat, as many new start-ups and self-employed will tell you. Although it’s presented some unique challenges, there’s been a lot of positive too. Here’s what we’ve been up to over the last year, and where we are headed.
We’ve built great relationships
From our connections in both Cheltenham and South Wales, we’ve been able to bring on clients who trust the diligent work we do, and have even gone on to recommend us within their own networks.
Take a look at some of our amazing client reviews.
We’ve learned A LOT
No, really.. As well as learning to navigate a business set up in a pandemic climate, we’ve put a lot of work into expanding our knowledge. Emma gained her Xero Advisor Certificate meaning she can assist you with all aspects of your bookkeeping using this professional platform. As the business continued to expand, we’ve gained Bronze Xero Partner status. Goodbye stressful bookkeeping!
As well as this, Emma has dedicated a lot of time in to learning the ropes of social media marketing to promote YGF, including graphics on Canva (much to her dismay!). You can find her keeping socially active over on her personal Linkedin.
We’ve refocused our direction
From market research and anecdotal data, we realised there was a huge calling for a trustworthy and qualified bookkeeper to service small businesses. Earlier this year, we shifted our focus to providing an outstanding bookkeeping service above all else.
We’ve realised we CAN have it all
YGF was born out of the desire to have a flexible work-life balance, as well as following our passions for bookkeeping. We’ve surpassed our own expectations on how achievable this would be, and as a result have been able to spend more mother-daughter time (even if virtually!).
Emma didn’t think she’d be in this position a year ago, but has worked all hours to build our presence and client base – all in the name of having more time later down the line, and the flexibility to visit her children, and grand-dog Louis!
Where we’re heading
This year we’ve set personal goals to continue growing the business, and look to expand our client base and services to cater for payroll, as well as bespoke bookkeeping packages.
We’re already working with renowned chartered accountants, Bevan Buckland LLP, in South Wales, and hope to follow suit in Cheltenham in near future; setting the path for national expansion.
We also hope to update our current AAT license to Accounting, enabling us to assist the self-employed. Watch this space!
Can we help you?
Although the climate remains uncertain at present, we know that the requirement for a great virtual assistance service is still in demand, and we can’t wait to get stuck in.
